Arkansas -Bentonville (Jun 5 2022)

After leaving Fort Smith we took a short drive up to Bentonville, Arkansas. The city is the birthplace of and world headquarters location of Walmart, the world’s largest retailer. However beyond this claim to fame, it is one of the four main cities in the three-county Northwest Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area (NWA) and a quaint little town.

The original Walton’s to later become Walmart. This is the Walmart Museum.

Our first stop was in downtown/Main Street in Bentonville where we found these “Monsters” in an alleyway that brought smiles to our face. There are 12 in the city of Bentonville but we only included a few. Have fun hunting.

“Monsters” created by Kevin Lyons. “Kevin Lyons is a creative director, illustrator, and artist based in Brooklyn, NY. He has created products with Nike, Adidas, Converse, … Vans, … Colette, and Girl Skateboards, among others. His signature “Monster” characters have appeared on murals around the world including at … Hawaii / Japan / Long Beach; Murals in the Market Detroit; Life is Beautiful, Las Vegas; Coachella; Colette in Paris; Milan Design Week; Mural Arts, Raleigh, NC; and at Stussy in Japan.”

Interesting Sculpture outside of the Walton’s building.

Grace in Blue. Artist: JIMINAI [JEM-UH-NAHY]. His comments about this mural: The theme was graceful and I wanted to pull in elements that are well known to the area. The Blue Heron is a popular bird in that area that excludes this playful beauty in the way it flies. Still undecided on is she the spirit of the bird, or is the bird her spirit animal. I also used apple blossoms to surround the subject. If you have a chance to see them bloom there, it’s quite amazing.
